Yamanote line of Tokyo is being usesd for the trial operation of automatic train.
On the 7th of January, JR East Japan tested the operation of automatic train which operates even without an operator by using the Yamanote line.
After thr last train service, the train travelled twice automatically along Yamanote line which is as long as 34.5km.
During the test, even though the operator was seated in his seat, he only commenced the journey in which after that, the train changed its speed and stopped at the stations automatically.
The train could travel at the speed predetermined. However, the research on whether the train could arrived on time when it was late was still.being carried out.

The research on automatic train shows that JR East Japan was contemplating about the lack of employees in the future.
