55 dead, hundreds injured in tribal clashes 23,000 evacuated India

At least 55 people have died and 260 have been hospitalized as tribal clashes erupted in India’s northeastern state of Manipur.
Some 23,000 people have taken refuge in Indian military bases in the state, fleeing the clashes.

Clashes between the Kuqi and Meitai peoples in the province began days ago.
A local hospital official told CNN that most of the patients had been shot or had been hit in the head with sticks and had suffered serious injuries.
