Phishing scams: 3 billion yen in damage in half a year, the most ever
Phishing is the use of fake emails and websites to steal money from bank accounts.
According to the National Police Agency, 2,322 phishing scams were found in the six months to June this year
Damage amounted to 3 billion yen, the highest amount ever.
The damage is increasing in accounts such as banks with no stores and only internet
Scammers send false emails such as ”You need to reconfirm your personal information” or ”An unauthorized login has been detected” to make you open a fake website.
If you enter your ID and password on a fake website, your important information will be stolen and your money will be stolen.
The National Police Agency says not to put important information on the website mentioned in the email.
If you use an Internet bank, I tell you to use the app issued by that bank.
