Global Conference to Abolish Nuclear Weapons Prime Minister Kishida spoke
The NPT conference started on the 1st in New York, USA.
Prime Minister Kishida was the first Japanese prime minister to attend and speak at this conference.
Prime Minister Kishida said that Japan will provide 10 million dollars to the United Nations to attract young people from around the world to Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
He said he will hold a conference in Hiroshima this November where world leaders will talk about nuclear weapons.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres said, ”People around the world are forgetting the damage caused by the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.”
He said he would go to Hiroshima on August 6, the day the atomic bomb was dropped, and attend a ceremony to pray for peace.
