Yokohama Heavy Machinery Fall Accident Draining Work Expected to take before tomorrow morning
In the city of Yokohama, which was once used as a fuel storage base by the U.S. Army and is now being used to build a park, it was difficult to rescue workers who seemed to have fallen into an underground tank with a depth of 30 meters along with heavy machinery.

On the evening of the 25th, the whereabouts of a man in his 60s who was working on the construction of the park was operated at the site of the ”Koshiba oil storage facility” in the Kanazawa Ward, Yokohama City, which was once used as a fuel storage base by the US military and others.
The lid of an underground tank, which was about 45 meters in diameter and about 30 meters in depth, which was used to store fuel, partly collapsed, and it is believed that a man fell into a tank with about 20 tons of heavy equipment.
According to the city of Yokohama, it is estimated that the tank was filled with water and earth up to a height of about 9 meters from the bottom, and 5 pumps were put in before the rescue operation to continue draining work.
The water had been drained to another nearby tank, and as of 3:00 pm, the water level had dropped by about 2 meters, but no men or heavy equipment have been found so far.
The drainage work is expected to take place before noon on the 28th, and the city will work to prevent the collapse of the remaining tank lid, and if the safety can be confirmed even if the drainage is not completely completed, the city wants to start a rescue operation.
