Mr. Koji Murofushi, a hammer thrower, will be appointed as the new secretary of the Japan Sports Agency.
Koji Murofushi, the gold medalist of the Olympic track and field men’s hammer throw and the sports director of the Tokyo Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, will succeed Daichi Suzuki of the Japan Sports Agency as his term expires.
This was announced by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on the 11th.
Mr. Murofushi, who will be appointed as the new secretary of the Japan Sports Agency on the 1st of next month, is 45 years old from Shizuoka prefecture.
He has participated in the Olympic Games for four consecutive Olympics by throwing a men’s hammer on land, and won a gold medal at the 2004 Athens Games and a bronze medal at the 2012 London Games.
While continuing the competition, he obtained a doctoral degree from Chukyo University Graduate School and retired from active duty four years ago, but his own Japanese record is still unbroken.
Currently, he is a sports director who is responsible for disseminating information to the outside world as the face of the competition department at the Tokyo Organizing Committee.
The Japan Sports Agency was established five years before the decision to hold the Tokyo Games to strengthen competitiveness and promote regional sports, and Daichi Suzuki, the gold medalist for swimming, who is the first secretary, is now.
