The island of Komodo, Indonesia, known as the world’s largest lizard habitat, Komodo Island, has been banned from tourists for one year from 2020.
The local newspaper ’Tempo’ reported.

According to the newspaper, plans to regulate tourists on Komodo Island have been for months.
It was discovered that a smuggling organization carried 41 Komodo dragons from the same island in March and sold it for Rp 500 million (approximately 4 million yen) per animal abroad.
これを受けて同島への立ち入りを禁止して、コモドオオトカゲの生息地保護を目的とした対策を進めることになりました
