Former professional baseball pitcher Satoshi Iriki dies in car accident
Satoshi Iriki from Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, who was active as a pitcher in professional baseball Yakult and Giants, died in a traffic accident while driving a car in the city on the night of the 10th.

Satoshi Iriki, a 55-year-old caregiver from Miyakonojo City who was driving the car in the accident, was taken to a hospital after hitting his head hard, and died about two hours later.
Mr. Iriki was a former professional baseball pitcher from Miyakonojo City, and after passing through the Kintetsu and Giants at the time, he joined Yakult as a test team in 2001, showing 10 wins and contributing to the team becoming the best in Japan.
When he joined the Giants, he was noted as the Iriki Brothers along with his younger brother Yusaku, who is currently a pitching coach for Orix.
