The city of Oita sends 30,000 masks to their Chinese sister-city Wuhan.
Since the iron industry is important for both Oita and Wuhan, in 1979 they became sister-cities that continued to interact with one another.
The new coronavirus in Wuhan, that causes lung disease, continues to spread.
Because of this Oita sent 30,000 masks, that were prepared in case of any disasters, to Wuhan.
Inside the boxes that the masks were placed in, a note written in Chinese says ”Wuhan, stay strong!”
”However little, we want to be helpful to Wuhan.” the people at Oita’s government office expressed.
To celebrate the 40 years since Wuhan became their sister-city, Oita planned a commemoration event on February the 8th.
However, since people from Wuhan were meant to come and celebrate, the event has been canceled.
