Consultations from foreign technical intern trainees is increasing

The number of technical intern trainees, or foreigners who work in Japan while learning technical skills, was more than 320,000 in June.
Issues such as companies not paying technical intern trainees or forcing them to quit without good reason continue to be a problem.

The “Foreign Technical Intern Trainee Organization,” which assists technical intern trainees, had about 23,700 consultations in the 2021 fiscal year.
That is 3.2 times more than in the 2019 fiscal year.
There were many consultations about “management issues” and “salary and overtime work issues” - about 4000 each.
