On the 7th, just before 7 p.m., at the Todai-mae Station platform on the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, a 20-year-old university student who was about to board a train was suddenly attacked with a knife. Yoshitaka Toda, a 43-year-old suspect with no known address or occupation, was arrested on the spot on suspicion of attempted murder.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect is remaining silent during questioning.

According to the investigation so far, it has been found that the suspect suddenly slashed a university student who was waiting for a train on the platform from behind, then chased the student into the train and slashed at their head and other areas multiple times.

Furthermore, it has been newly revealed through interviews with investigative sources that the suspect remained inside the station gates for about 30 minutes before the incident, and had no contact whatsoever with the two people until attacking the university student.

The security camera footage reportedly showed the suspect entering the restroom and sitting on a bench inside the ticket gate area.

It appears that there was no prior acquaintance between the suspect and the university student, and the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the details of the incident.
