Gatherings and events to mourn approximately 3.1 million war dead and pray for peace will be held throughout the country.
東京 千代田区の日本武道館では、政府主催の全国戦没者追悼式が開かれ、戦争で亡くなった人の遺族などおよそ4500人が参列する予定です。
At the Nippon Budokan in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, a government-sponsored National Memorial Service for the War Dead will be held, with about 4,500 people, including bereaved families of those who died in the war, expected to attend.
追悼式では正午に黙とうをささげ、天皇陛下がおことばを述べられます。
At the memorial ceremony, a moment of silence will be observed at noon, and His Majesty the Emperor will deliver an address.
そして参列者が式壇に菊の花を手向けて、およそ310万人の戦没者を追悼します。
And then, the attendees offer chrysanthemums at the altar to mourn the approximately 3.1 million war dead.
終戦から80年となり、遺族の高齢化は進み、日本遺族会によりますと全国の遺族会の会員は先月時点でおよそ35万世帯となり、前回調査を実施した2019年のおよそ57万世帯と比べると6年間で4割近く減少しました。
80 years have passed since the end of the war, and as the bereaved families age, the number of households belonging to the Japan War-Bereaved Families Association nationwide was about 350,000 as of last month. This is a decrease of nearly 40% over six years compared to about 570,000 households in the previous survey conducted in 2019.

8%が80歳以上で、最年長の98歳の男性は、26歳で戦病死した兄を追悼するため、北海道から参列します。
8% are over 80 years old, and the oldest, a 98-year-old man, will attend from Hokkaido to honor his brother who died in the war at the age of 26.
一方、記憶を受け継ごうと18歳未満の若い世代も合わせて83人が式典に参列予定で、最年少の遺族として戦没者のやしゃごにあたる3歳の未就学児が三重県から参列する予定です。
On the other hand, a total of 83 people are scheduled to attend the ceremony, including members of the younger generation under 18 who wish to inherit the memories. The youngest bereaved family member, a 3-year-old preschooler who is a great-great-grandchild of a war victim, is expected to attend from Mie Prefecture.

15日は全国各地で遺族の団体や自治体が主催する追悼式や平和について考える集会や催しが開かれます。
