According to the police, shortly after 8:30 a.m. on the 6th, a passenger car collided head-on with a city bus that was stopped at a bus stop on a city road in Fukushima-cho, Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City.

In this accident, a 70-year-old woman who was on the bus suffered a minor injury to her face and was taken to the hospital.

The person arrested is Ryotaro Ichihara, a 24-year-old company employee from Hyogo Ward, Kobe City. During questioning, he admitted to causing the accident but stated, I thought the alcohol had left my system, among other things.

The scene is a straight, single-lane road lined with houses and shops, about one kilometer northwest of Nijo Castle. Police believe that a passenger car veered into the oncoming lane and are investigating the details of the accident.

From the lower part of the bus’s windshield, as well as the hood and tire area of the red passenger car, both appear to be damaged, suggesting that the passenger car collided with the bus almost head-on.

According to the man who took the photo, the scene is usually a place with heavy traffic, and even though more than an hour had passed since the accident, there was still a traffic jam.

A man in his 80s who runs a barbershop nearby said, I heard a boom sound, and when I looked outside, there had been an accident. A woman was being taken away in an ambulance.

I was surprised because I never expected a head-on collision to happen at a bus stop, they said.

A man in his 60s who runs a company nearby said, If things had gone differently, it could have been my company. Thats scary. He also said, I overheard the police officer talking to the young driver, saying things like, I smell alcohol. So I thought maybe it was drunk driving.
