【台風たいふう5号ごう】15日にちにかけて東ひがし・北きた日本にっぽんに接近せっきんし上陸じょうりくのおそれ

Typhoon No. 5 is moving north over the sea east of Hachijojima in the Izu Islands, and there is a risk that it will approach and make landfall in eastern or northern Japan around the 15th.

Be alert for strong winds and high waves, and take extra care to avoid landslides and other disasters.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, as of 6 a.m., Typhoon No. 5 is moving north-northwest at about 35 kilometers per hour over the sea, 190 kilometers east of Hachijojima.

The central pressure is 985 hectopascals, the maximum wind speed near the center is 25 meters per second, and the maximum instantaneous wind speed is 35 meters per second. Strong winds of 15 meters per second or more are blowing within 440 kilometers to the east and 220 kilometers to the west of the center.

Waves are high in the Ogasawara Islands.

The typhoon is expected to intensify as it moves north, passing east of the Kanto region and heading toward the Sanriku coast by the night of the 14th, then moving on to Hokkaido on the 15th, after which it is expected to become an extratropical cyclone.

It may approach and make landfall on the Pacific side of eastern and northern Japan around the 15th.

Very strong winds are expected in eastern Japan on the 14th and in northern Japan on the 15th.

The maximum wind speed on the 14th is expected to be 25 meters per second in Tohoku and Kanto, and 18 meters per second in the Izu Islands. The maximum instantaneous wind speed is expected to be 35 meters per second in Tohoku and Kanto, and 25 meters per second in the Izu Islands.

On the 15th, the maximum wind speed is expected to be 23 meters per second in Hokkaido and 20 meters per second in Tohoku, with maximum instantaneous wind speeds of 35 meters per second in Hokkaido and 25 meters per second in Tohoku.

At sea, waves are expected to become high with swells: on the 14th, up to 7 meters in the Tohoku region and 6 meters in the Kanto region; on the 15th, up to 7 meters in Hokkaido and Tohoku, with very rough conditions expected.

Due to the influx of warm, moist air toward the typhoon, there is a risk of extremely heavy rain with thunderstorms in eastern and northern Japan.

The amount of rainfall expected in the 24 hours until the morning of the 15th is as follows: up to 120 mm in Tohoku, Kanto-Koshin, and Ogasawara; and up to 100 mm in Hokkaido. Furthermore, in the 24 hours until the morning of the 16th, up to 150 mm is expected in Kanto-Koshin and up to 80 mm in Hokkaido.

The Japan Meteorological Agency is urging people in eastern and northern Japan to be on alert for strong winds and high waves, as well as to be extremely cautious of landslides caused by heavy rain, flooding of low-lying areas, and rising river levels, and also to watch out for lightning strikes and sudden gusts of wind.

At the fishing port in Onjuku Town, Chiba Prefecture, measures were taken in preparation for the approach of Typhoon No. 5, such as bringing fishing boats ashore and securing them with ropes.

According to the local fisheries cooperative, abalone fishing, which is usually active during this season, was also suspended for three days starting from the 14th.

A 58-year-old fisherman at the fishing port said, In the past, the roof of the fisheries cooperative was blown off.

I hope that there will be no damage this time, he said.
