Due to the effects of tropical depressions and other factors, rain clouds are developing locally, mainly in western Japan. Heavy rain is expected in western and eastern Japan through the 16th, with the possibility of extremely heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas.

The Japan Meteorological Agency is urging people to be very careful about landslides and flooding in low-lying areas.

Temperatures are expected to remain high on the 14th as well, especially in Hokuriku and western Japan, with some areas likely to experience extremely hot days.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, warm and humid air is flowing toward the tropical depression west of Kyushu and the low-pressure system in the Tsushima Strait, causing localized rain clouds to develop over Kyushu and Shikoku at this time.

In the one hour leading up to 8 a.m., a rain gauge installed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in Ino Town, Kochi Prefecture, recorded a very heavy rainfall of 52 mm, while a rain gauge installed by Kumamoto Prefecture in Tamana City recorded heavy rainfall of 32 mm.

The tropical depression will gradually weaken, but as a low-pressure system moves northward over the Sea of Japan and is affected by cold air aloft, the atmosphere over western and eastern Japan is expected to become extremely unstable through the 16th.

For this reason, there will be very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, and there is also a risk of extremely intense rain in some areas.

The amount of rainfall expected in the 24 hours up to the morning of the 15th is, at most, 200 mm in Tokai and Shikoku, 180 mm in Kinki, and 80 mm in the Chugoku region and southern Kyushu. In the 24 hours up to the morning of the 16th, 150 mm is expected in Tokai, and furthermore, in the 24 hours up to the morning of the 17th, 200 mm is expected in Tokai.

There is also a risk that it will continue to rain in the same place for several days in areas such as Tokai.

The Japan Meteorological Agency is urging people to be vigilant for landslides, flooding in low-lying areas, and rising river levels, as well as to watch out for lightning, tornadoes, strong gusty winds, and hail.

On the other hand, on the 14th, temperatures are expected to rise mainly in the Hokuriku and western Japan regions, with daytime highs forecasted to reach 37°C in Fukui City, 35°C in Kanazawa, Kyoto, and Osaka extremely hot days, as well as 34°C in Nagoya and 33°C in Aomori and Kofu, indicating severe heat.

A Heat Stroke Alert has been issued for Toyama, Ishikawa, Fukui, Oita, and the Okinawa Main Island region of Okinawa Prefecture, as the risk of heat stroke is extremely high.

Temperatures are expected to remain high from western to northern Japan until around the 20th of this month.
